Abstract

This paper focuses on the factors which determine the extent of qualification mismatch which appears to be one of the underlining characteristics of today’s labor markets. The results of an empirical study on the new EU member states imply that the main determinants of mismatch among tertiary education graduates include the increasing educational attainment, specifically female graduates, the share of trade-related service sectors, employed persons with higher education in the field of Information and communication technologies, and the number of small and medium-sized enterprises.
