Global Challenges For Regional Policy And Development
Abstract
This article highlights the challenges facing regional development in the context of global change from the perspective of regional policy implementation. This process of regional development policy implementation has its geo-economic orientation. The spatial and territorial features of the national space are theorized. Within the framework of the European Union as the largest integration community, regional problems are highlighted in the light of the ongoing economic processes, which extend into national geospatial space and undoubtedly have non-linear dynamics influenced by a number of conditions and factors. Methodological approaches are proposed for the assessment and analysis of variable, rarely stable trends, as a result of the increasing dependence of regional economic systems on external influences, determined by their instability. A chronological analysis of the picture of politico-economic processes, using a set of predetermined indicators, proves that the only persistent trend is the deepening of inequalities between regions and districts in terms of their economic potential and an increasing range of variations. Conclusions are drawn and trends in regional development are outlined.
